Giro has been a leader in the Full Face mountain bike helmet market for years. With their futuristic styling, their flagship Mad Max II was likely the most common full face bike helmet at the start of the century. Although it was their leader for many years, in 2006 Giro went back to the drawing board and designed a completely new lid, the Remedy. The Remedy was designed to offer even more strength and protection for the rider. The curvy and streamline styling of the Mad Max II was left in favour of a round, more moto inspired design.

6 Vote(s)

The category of all-mountain or trail bikes seems to be becoming a huge part of the mountain bike industry. These bikes are designed to handle any type of riding, but often are not able to compete with the event specific bike. Some of the bikes in this category are freeride bikes that you really wouldn't want to ride a great distance on while others are essentially long travel cross country bikes that you wouldn't dare take to a bike park. The biggest differences come in the frame design but don't overlook the build kits that manufacturers put together. When looking for a bike in this category it is all about figuring out what type of riding you are going to do and then try and find the best match for you. Finding the perfect bike might mean switching up some of the components so that you get it dialed in just right, but the frame is going to be the heart of any all mountain bike.

5 Vote(s)

About five years ago, MRP chain guides seemed to be on every freeride and downhill bike in the region. They were one of, if not, the most popular chain guides available on the market. MRP chain guides were well designed and always a very nice products. They worked like a charm but there was one caveat at the time with MRP's systems; every guide, whether it was a System 1 or 2 chain guide, were built with aluminum bash guards. The design of the System 1 and 2 allowed an extremely effective guide and one of the lightest around, but if you were unfortunate enough to hit a rock hard enough, the odds were that you needed plyers and muscles to straighten the system out before getting back on your bike.

6 Vote(s)

It was a tight points race and Greg Minnaar proved his dominance in this series winning three of the seven events and by placing fifth today he clinched the title, his third series overall win of his career in the elite men's downhill. Josh Bryceland sat out the final race with a broken collarbone but still had enough points to retain his hold on the junior overall title. And a collective effort by the Syndicate members this season paid off with the top downhill team champion's crystal trophy going home in the hands of the Syndicate's fearless leader, Rob Roskopp thus capping off a magic year.

4 Vote(s)

Gamut USA makes a variety of chainguides that fit a lot of riders' needs. Gamut has many guides that are lightweight and help to keep you rolling. Gamut saw a need for a 36t specific chainguide and the P30 was born. The P30 fits in between their P20 (32-34t guide) and their P40 (36-40t guide). Gamut currently makes 5 chainguides that are all designed for specific purposes and the P30 is no different.

9 Vote(s)

These two items are often associated with the Shimano DX lineup that BMX racers use but they're just as widely used in mountain bike applications. The shoes are very similar to the SH-MP56L flat shoes in design and function but have a stiffer sole and are clipless compatible.

15 Vote(s)
