I remember strolling the bike shows and seeing the guys on the Banshee Screams and Morphines, in awe of how "North Shore" they looked. Unfortunately in the later years, it seemed that Banshee bikes fell to the wayside as the advent of lighter and more nimble bikes took over the lion's share of sales. Gone were the big burly bikes that could drop 20' to flat, and in came the tidal wave of lighter weight, pedalable 6-and-6 bikes.

3 Vote(s)

There's always time to work but how often do you get to ride in Sun Valley or Whistler or, in this case, Marin County. And yet here I am in the birthplace of our sport sitting at the keys. Sometimes content is too fresh and juicy to serve later. I did ride this morning and I managed to wrangle some time on one of a very small number of 2009 Specialized SX Trails. Only a handful of Specialized employees have ridden these and before now not a single journalist. I'm a little giddy about sharing some info about the new bike so no afternoon ride for me.

3 Vote(s)

The three highlights of this pad are:-There is a thin plastic cap that covers the knee face that will and does disperse any sharp impacts. (No matter what you all say on the forums, the Kyle Strait does not have a plastic cap in there). I just ripped one open and it has a 2mm thick hard rubber cap.-The side padding is awesome, not only is there plenty of padding on the knee itself, the side panels of super foam are ace and provide the ultimate protection.-The straps mean these will stay in place unless you get thrown out of a car on the M6.

5 Vote(s)

The first triple round of the Nissan UCI World Cup Series was held in the mountain town of Valnord, Andorra where the Santa Cruz Syndicate took two of the five podium spots with Greg Minnaar scooping up third and Steve "Old School" Peat just 3/4 of a second behind him in fourth. The big news from this event is the Atherton family each winning an event with Dan winning the 4X, Rachel winning the women's downhill and Gee winning the men's downhill, truly a history making weekend!

6 Vote(s)
