These bikes are designed to handle any type of riding, but often are not able to compete with the event specific bike. Some of the bikes in this category are freeride bikes that you really wouldn’t want to ride a great distance on while others are essentially long travel cross country bikes that you wouldn’t dare take to a bike park. The biggest differences come in the frame design but don't overlook the build kits that manufacturers put together. When looking for a bike in this category it is all about figuring out what type of riding you are going to do and then try and find the best match for you. Finding the perfect bike might mean switching up some of the components so that you get it dialed in just right, but the frame is going to be the heart of any all mountain bike.
